Standards are Changing

In order to become a member of IDNB – DINB, individuals must meet the approved changes to its membership requirements with respect to the education and experience necessary. The changes will be phased in over the next several years and will bring the province in line with North American industry standards.

Bachelor Degree Requirement

As of July 1, 2015, a four year interior design degree will be the minimum education requirement. Individuals who have graduated with a non-CIDA accredited bachelor’s degree before January 1, 2017, must join ARIDNB by June 30, 2016.

CIDA Accredited Bachelor Degree Requirement

As of January 1, 2017, a bachelor’s degree in interior design that has been accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) will be the minimum education requirement. Individuals who graduate from a bachelor’s degree program that is not CIDA accredited after January 1, 2017, will not meet the minimum standard.
